sharing my thoughts through words and images

With all the rain we’ve had in Vermont over the past month, I thought I would post something with the word “sun” in its name!! 🙂 Sunflowers hold a special place in my heart and they are putting on quite a show in my garden despite the lack of “sun”! They brighten up even the dreariest of days!

Very Beautiful! 🌻

It’s nice to see a bit of sun – thanks for reminding me! Stewart

My bad – I used the incorrect genus name – it is called Heliopsis helianthoides – False Sunflower. Helianthus is a true perennial sunflower. I was thinking of the species name when I labeled it! 😦 I have corrected my error! Sorry to mislead you. It is called a false sunflower due to the fact that both the ray and disk florets can produce seeds. While true sunflowers – only the disk florets produce seeds. It does start to bloom a couple of weeks ahead of the true perennial sunflowers.
